Sumber Co Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Sumber Engineering (M) Sdn. Bhd.) is an offspring of Sumber Group Companies operating in Singapore and Indonesia. The founding Chairman, the late Mr. Chng Gim Cheng, first formed Sumber Trading Co. in 1968 as a trading arm to procure and provide financial facilities to associates and joint venture partners in Indonesia, from distributing food and hygiene items, and industrial products from Americas, China, Europe, Japan and Taiwan. Then Sumber Group focused mainly in trading activities, who are also ship owners, in Indonesia.

Sumber Group of Companies in Malaysia, including subsidiary Sumber Engineering Trading (M) Sdn Bhd, relocated into the current premise in 1996 after Sumber Co Sdn Bhd developed the building complex known as One@USJ Centre in Subang Jaya, Selangor, to own and invest, and to house our operations and catering for future expansion. Sumber Co Pte Ltd in Singapore also developed a 7-storey building in Singapore known as One@Redhill Centre, completed in 2013.

The Singapore distribution business with Hitachi industrial equipment and components were sold back to Hitachi Asia Ltd Singapore in 2004 as Hitachi Industrial Equipment Ltd of Japan wished to be more hands on with the marketing of their own products in the local markets. In the following years Hitachi also entered the market of Malaysia which ended the partnership in Malaysia. Hence, Sumber Co. is now proud to introduce OneSolution for Plant and Facility including One.ki® Air System Equipment (in-house brand) and other brands.
